Great Make-up: Kareena Kapoor

It's been a while since I've done a breakdown of a celebrity's make-up so I thought I'd bring you a breakdown of Kareena Kapoor's make-up. Her make-up palette is very cool toned and compliments the undertones of her skin very well.

Start off this look with a moisturizer and eye cream according to your skin's needs. While this picture has been airbrushed (like pretty much all other pictures), her skin looks flawless. Prepping your skin always helps in applying foundation and concealor better.

For this look, try a creamy, matte, medium-coverage foundation evenly all over the face and blend into the neck. For this look, you want to have a foundation that matches your skin perfectly. I know this is important always, but Kareena's make-up looks good because her foundation is seemingly perfectly blended and matched.

The colours used in this look are bright and adding a primer to your eyelids will help those colours be as vibrant as possible.

The eyebrows help enhance the eye make-up in this look. Kareena's eyebrows aren't perfectly manicured but they are brushed into shape. You can choose to tweeze stray hairs if you wish, but be sure to groom them with a spoolie brush and lash gel.

Kareena seem to be wearing only a shimmery pewter gray eyeshadow from lash line to crease

Apply a shimmery silver or champagne eyeshadow on the brow bone.

To line your upper lash line, you can either use gel or liquid liner, or, if you wish, dip a stiff eyeliner brush in black eyeshadow. Make a thin line along the upper lash line and thicken the line slightly when you reach the outer 3/4 of the lash line. Extend the thickened eyeliner slightly past the outer corner of the eye.

Line the inner rim of your lower lid with a black kohl pencil. For the green liner, you again have the choice of liquid, gel, or green eyeshadow and then create a thin line along your lower lash line.

Curl your lashes and apply two coats of volumizing mascara on the upper and lower lashes. For added drama, you can add a few clumps of false lashes on the outer corner.

Apply a bright, blue toned pink, something of a candy pink I would call it, sheerly slightly above the cheekbones and blend towards the temples.

Line lips with a rosey mauve lip pencil and top it off with a moisturizing lipstick in the same shade.

Setting Make-up:
Apply translucent powder with a large powder brush all over your face.

Hey Anu,
Can I substitute the pewter grey with the Mac Club you think? And what tone is champagne exactly? Like a light shimmery color, or a red tone?

PS- I owe you pictures. They will come:)

Hey aruna!
By pewter grey i mean a medium to dark grey with cool undertones (blue). I don't think Club is in the same family, but it would definitely make an interesting twist to it. You could even use Club on the top lid and use a different colour liner on the bottom instead of the green. It might not be the exact same look, but it would be the same techniques and essential thoughts behind this look. You could try Club with a deep violet or an intense brown liner for the bottom lid (i use my shadows for this). You should deinately experiement with various options.

And by champagne i mean a light shimmery creamish colour with golden undertones. that would look great with Club. You could also try a silver to highlight if you're using a grey shadow for the lid.

I'm dying to see the pics :). I'll wait patiently.

Hey...Thanks for the breakdowns...
It would be really nice if you could suggest specific products to use, instead of just saying say, "nude lip pencil".
A lot of us really clueless as to which product specifically is good. Like the MAC Spice is a great nude....
Actual product names would really help :D And you could maybe include real time pictures of the product(pics taken at home in natural light? if u have them ie)
Thanks again, keep up the good work :)

The reason I don't put down my guesses is because when I look at a picture and I can pin down the techiques and colours ok, but exactly colours can be tricky because 1. I might have limited knowledge of some colours, 2. the colours that show up a certain way on me might show up differently on others. skintone, skin type, etc. are also factors that decide how a colour shows up on you.

that's why unless i find an exact product description, I dont write down which products to use. I'm so sorry about that though. It really bothers me too when Bollywood make-up artists refuse to even speak a word about the products used.

The pewter is blended in with raspberry like shade to give the lid more definition(it is more prominent on her left eye) and it looks like she is also wearing a bluish shade under the lower lashes. But, i don't think this look for the eyes would be practical to wear other than to get your portrait done.

besides pewter, she is wearing a raspberry like hue on her upper lids and a blue eye shadow under her lower lashes. i don't think this looks is practical to wear other then to get your portraits done.

hey namrita and annie
i thought she might have been wearing a raspberry crease colour but then i figured maybe it was the picture quality/shadows in there. lighting can be very deceptive. when i take pictures of people and i have them all made up, studio lighting brings out undertones that you wouldn't normally see in real life. that's why i figured she was wearing a pewter shadow, and as it's very cool/blue toned, i think the lighting and retouching bring that out. studio lighting brings out the layers in the colours beautifully, however, it's sometimes hard to see those undertones in real life.

sadly, i can honestly say i've tried such looks before in real life and i guess if you're comfortable enough then it's fine. of course, others might have been appalled to see me but hey, i love my colour. thanks for reading :)/
